Review: Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick

Whilst in London for the blog awards a few weeks back, I was (as I often am...) drawn towards the make-up counters in department stores. I hadn't intended to buy a new concealer that day, however - I was in Liberty of London (which was amazing, by the way!) and I figured I might as well get tested up for my correct skin colour shade. Of course, buying makeup in Liberty had nothing to do with wanting a beautiful purple Liberty shopping bag - nope, nada!

The last Bobbi Brown concealer, I bought online - and it's difficult to judge those little palette pot thingies on a computer screen - so understandably, yet disappointingly, when the concealer arrived it was slightly too light for my skin tone. Boo!

The lovely lady in Liberty knew my skin tone straight off (cool beige, if you're curious), the tester stick confirmed her vast makeup knowledge, blending seamlessly onto my skin. Marvellous!! Sold!

So, I've been using the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick now for 3 weeks. Remarkably, this makeup stick can be used as either a touch up concealer, or as a full blown foundation for your entire face.

So what did I think?  I'll go into more detail below:

Bobbi Brown claims that the skin foundation stick: moisturises and mattifies according to your skin requirements. However, I have super-duper oily skin; I really struggle to keep my skin shine free - with, or without a foundation so it would be an extremely big ask for this foundation.

The foundation Stick is creamy in consistency, yet lightweight and has a smooth glide like application process. I was really excited to get this product home and smoother it all over my face to see how much coverage it would give me.

....and I wasn't disappointed: I was absolutely stunned by how flawless my face looked once I'd applied this product, and with a dusting of powder on top to set my face, it lasted all day long. It didn't separate or go patchy and cloggy as the day rolled by (something that can happen with my oily skin when I use liquid foundation) I was perfectly happy for days using this foundation - until......dah, da dah....I had a breakout!

Unfortunately, I think this might just be me and cream foundations! I had the same reaction when I used the Max Factor Face Finity compact foundation a year or two ago. The spots kept on coming even though I tried really hard to get my face used to it for about 8 months. I love it, but just didn't work for me.

However, as the company states: the Bobbi Brown Foundation stick can also be used as a concealer as well as a foundation, and this is what I'll be doing. Touching up blemishes, pink bits and over the eye bags bits. I just need to get a liquid foundation to colour match it now.

So overall: I'd say, if you're perfectly fine with cream foundations?! get shaded up by Bobbi Brown - you'll love this product. It's easy to apply, you can layer it up as much ( or as little ) as you want and feel confident that it'll stay put all day long.

Happy Days!
