I never much liked the old wallpaper in our dining room - which was supposed to be "vintage inspired". However, it never quite cut the mustard for me. It lacked a certain authenticity; it stood there bold as brass, dominating the room with it's false resolute, but I could never quite see it's beauty.
Five months ago, I demanded (Yes, I cracked the whip) that Gav strip the wall bare: I would rather look at a dishevelled plain wall that demanded some love and affection rather than the deceptive offerings of that (Yes - that!) paper and besides, I would be forced to decide on a colour scheme sooner with the room so dishevelled.
I decided on Charcoal in the end. It took me a while (ahem - only 4 months or so....) to reach this conclusion, but once I had it in my sights I again cracked my whip (.......and by whip, I mean tongue) and we had it painted in a nanosecond.
I then picked up a zillion thrifty picture frames, sprayed them either black or white.
I'm really pleased with the wall so far. Obviously it's not quite finished, hence the little sneaky peak picture. I'm looking forward to introducing the new and improved dining room onto the blog in the very near future.
Also, how cool are the multi-coloured babbles around the light? Even better that they were in the Christmas sale. I may have to keep them there, regardless of Christmas.
