One of my favourite bloggers recently has been Marianne from Esme and the Laneway . Not only is she stunningly beautiful, she also has the best dresses and outfits EVER! Fullstop. . . exclamation mark !!
This week Marianne has published outfit posts wearing only black and white vintage clothing.........and it got me thinking - I really don't own much black, or white (for that matter) clothing.
I find myself flicking mindlessly past these colours (are they even colours?) whilst thrifting the rails at many a shop. I dive head first into the pretty florals and vibrant textures.
Really - its a bad habit, one that needs to be broken I think. So yesterday, whilst thrifting, I bought a vintage 70's dress - and 'yes'.... it is black :)
I always think there's something Voguish (is that a word: 'Voguish'?) about black and white: stylish, provocative - sexy even.
I've also had the mind cogs ticking over regarding black and white photography. As I mentioned a few posts back - I used to always shoot on actual b&w film (bored of writing 'black and white' now - Ooops) years ago and I really miss it. With digital editing nowadays, there is a tendency to be more vibrant with filters and stuff, etc, etc, etc. Which, I obviously love to do too. But is there a place for b&w imagery? I believe so.
Soooo, as I rummage through my ever growing collection of vintage clothing, I find a little black shoulder-less top and this collar I made last year.
I'm on the way to thinking slightly differently thanks to Marianne.
You look adorable! I love Marianne, I've been reading her blog for 3 years or so and she's just so cool! I have a ton of black and white clothing because it's usually considered "professional," so I wear a lot of it to work.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is looking so good as well!

I've been following Marianne too. Amazing what she can do with black and white!
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of the opposite, having gone from wearing loads of black to embracing colours and patterns. But I still enjoy returning to black and a simpler look sometimes.
I love that collar! Its super cute. I think monochrome is great, especially with the pink hair! :)
Very pretty, I love your pink hair and the cute dress! You have a lovely style and I think it's fun to play with colour and black and white! I like your background colour too! I blog at www.afaintyfawn.blogspot.co.uk. I'm a new follower :)?
