My Makeup for Spring/Summer 2014

makeup1
Hello Happy Saturday :)

Hope you're enjoying a lovely peaceful weekend thus far?

It's been a while since I talked about my makeup on the blog and I thought I'd share my everyday routine with you.

Most of my makeup is much the same as before, especially the foundation as my skin reacts terribly if I suddenly use something different. When I find a product that I really like I tend to stick with it or at least go back to it when I've stopped experimenting with something else.

So, firstly after my cleansing routine I use the Rimmel Fix and Protect - I suffer from rather oily skin which I'm forever trying (and failing) to mattify - this product is ok, however I'm convinced there is a better primer out there for me and when this runs out I'll be trying something else.

After the primer I use Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation in no.51 Light Vanilla, now I wouldn't consider my skin extremely pale, however this is the lightest in the range and somehow, the best match for my skin. It's creamy in texture and the consistency is good, meaning maximum coverage with very little product. The colour has a yellow-ish tone, which is actually quite flattering - I hate those foundations that have the orange tinge, they do absolutely nothing but harm to my skin tone.
As long as Bourjois don't continue this foundation, I'll be a happy duckling :)

If I have the dreaded eye bags or a blemish or two, I'll use the Bobbi Brown corrector in Porcelain Bisque - this might be a little light for my skin and next time I'll probably order the slightly darker one; however it's difficult to judge when you're buying online.

To set the foundation and to minimise shine, I like to have a quick sweep over with my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent. I've literally used this product for years and have gone back to it several times after trying out other brands - Powdery enough for decent coverage, but not too powdery that it clings to and shows up all those little hairs on your face......ha - I was wondering how to word that!

I tend to stick to either a pink or peach theme with my everyday makeup; I'll either use the Illamasqua powder blusher in lover (the peach) or the Dior Skin Rosy Glow Blush(the pink)  to give that much needed glow and definition.

Then I fill in my eyebrows slightly using just a basic everyday brown eyeshadow and a slanted makeup brush.

For my daytime eyes; I tend to stick to the same pale colours with either the peach or pink tones. I actually bought this eyeshadow palette a while back from Asda for around £5. It's in the shape and design as an ipad - but it has lots of colours I tend to use so it's fine for now.....

If I'm having eyeliner flicks that day; I'll use Soap and Glory SuperCat EyeLiner Pen in Carbon Black Extreme. This is 100% the best eyeliner pen I've found to date, I really cannot credit this liner enough - if you haven't tried it yet, please do, you will not be disappointed.

Finally for my eyes, I have been using Max Factors Clump Defy Volumising Mascara. I haven't yet found my staple mascara; I'm still on the hunt for it - I am going to try the Soap and Glory one next time though :)

Finally, I'll finish with either a bit of lip balm or lipstick. For my daytime peach look I like Mac's Saigon Summer - which I am having to apply with a lip brush, as I accidently left it near the radiator - Ooops! For a more extreme peach look I'll use Mac's Monrange.
Then I have my Mac Red shades: Ruby wow, Chili and Lady Danger.

What I really need to do is buy some of Mac's pink lipsticks - It's on my list of things to do :)
