A Weekend Away, Vintage Dresses and Aching Feet..........

beyondretro
Hello, Happy Monday - hope you all had a lovely weekend?
Well, I'm back from an exciting, yet exhausting weekend away. I'd popped down to London to see my good friend Tash, do a bit of vintage shopping and a 'teeny bit of dancing the night away' (Yep, complete contradiction I know, much dancing happened!).
We headed straight out to Brick Lane, for all the vintage shops, Beyond Retro and Rokit. We then had a Latte and cake in a little cafe, before heading across London to the (even better) Beyond Retro in Dalston.
I also managed to only buy 2 vintage dresses (but not the ones in the picture, these were too small - boo!) and one cute top ( Yay me - no over-spending here!!) which is just as well because I'm really starting to get concerned about my wardrobe space; there's a constant struggle to fit everything in it, neatly too! However, thrifting has become a slight obsession and really, what can a girl do when she finds a gorgeous vintage dress just hanging there for under a fiver? Exactly!

On the Saturday evening, Tash took me to this quirky bar in Camden that played old 50-60's music like 'Hit the Road Jack' (love this song) and 4 hours later we were still dancing way, wayyyy into the night. We also didn't hear the complaints from our feet until much later. Finally after a mission getting a cab, we crawled into bed at around 5am giddy and giggly; we slept until almost midday, before heading out for brunch. How every avant-garde of us. Love it!
So, here I am on Monday, back home feeling slightly knackered still - and my feet are still sore and bruised, but at least I danced off all the lovely cake I ate ;)

    1. I know, it was really very pretty - although it was way too small, which is just as well because it wasn't cheap ;) x

    1. There really isn't anything where I live in Suffolk. I'm lucky that I live an hour from London though. My friend however, lives in London and lives a 5 minute walk from one of the Beyond Retro's!! Jammy or what?!

  4. That sounds like a fabulous weekend! I would also need one of those. The last weeks have been filled with too much work...

So, you would recommend Beyond Retro in London? I don't really the like the ones we have in Stockholm. Many clothes there have stains and tears. I might have to plan a trip to London, I guess... What other shops do you recommend?

    1. It is so nice just to get away :)
I love Beyond Retro and Rokit and there are so many little independent vintage shops - but, yeah some things are stained in there too. The last time I went into Rokit, I bought a cute skirt only to wear it out-and-about back home, when I noticed a massive orange stain - I wasn't impressed, under artificial lighting is doesn't show up. Luckily, it's washing out more and more - still annoying though. So, yes......I would say most items are fine, but you still have to be wary :)

      Hope that helps x

    2. Yes, the artificial light is the problem exactly! Anyway, I'll try Beyond Retro and Rokit in London. Thank you for the tip! :)

  6. A whole night of dancing? Wow, you must have a nice pair of shoes for not killing your feet and not hear them complain.
