A Winter Dress and the Weekend Warm Sunshine........

winter dress 3

Hello, Happy Weekend!

So, just when I'm getting into the swing of winter warming clothing.........cracking out the jumper dresses and scarves - it turns, dramatically! Warm sunshine......ok, so there's no sunshine today but I'm still hot and sweating under unnecessary layers of wool and cotton; now I'm bound to get a cold.....BOOOO!!!!

This weekend Gav and I are determined to tackle our new list (named: The even BIGGER List) of jobs that need doing around the house........boring stuff really, otherwise we'd have done it before now. I really need to have the house in order before Christmas - AH! Yes, I did just mention the big, dreaded 'C' word in September! In some ways I'm looking forward to it (the big 'C', that is): having the soft glow of the tree, getting cosy with a big blanket, mulled wine and hoping for snow on that BIG day! On the other hand, I have to shop. Lots! and in shops that I don't particularly like much. I don't think my relatives would appreciate my thrifty finds wrapped up in brown paper, tied up with string ('these are a few of my favourite things'... almost, just almost!) or homemade chocolates and gifts - I'd love to do that. Maybe I should throw caution to the wind and do it anyway?!

My mother-in-law once bought me a mop and bucket for my birthday. We needed one around the house at the time (only just moved in) and I think she thought she'd be practical ~ yes, very practical - thanks :)

What is the worst/best present you've ever received?

  1. Christmas in Australia is always hot and sunny, growing up seeing American and British tv shows and movies, christmas was always a wintery occasion and I feel rather ripped off getting stuck with summer christmas!
I couldn't even tell you my best and worst christmas presents, I have a shocking memory! But as far as worst goes it was probably something lavender scented! I really dislike lavender but there's always someone in the extended family who buys me lavender scented lotion or something like that.

    1. Haha - so true! Soap is probably another close (worst gift) contender........or talc?
Really though, we have rainy Christmas' here in the UK - more often than not. Sometimes it snows days after Christmas......which is obviously annoying haha!
I couldn't imagine Christmas in the summer, it would be very strange - but I'd like to experience it one day :)

  2. Well at least in Texas we never put our warm clothes away, we might break out the colder weather clothing for a very short time but all in all, the warm stuff usually stays out, you never know when you'll get a warm day! It's still blazing hot here!
Your dress is lovely and you look gorgeous!
    Have a great weekend,
    Tammy

    1. Thank you very much, I picked it up for a very reasonable price a while back.
I do like a bit of winter weather, I must admit........but we have had a super hot (by our standards anyway) summer this year, then all of a sudden, its cold and winter coats are needed. Today was hot again.....very strange, everyones going to get ill now from the swinging weather haha!
