Last Friday we decided to go on a deer hunt (not the nasty, mean type of 'hunt' of course....) at our local park/nature reserve........dressed from head to toe in body covering clothing; protection against nettles, thorns and more importantly - ticks, we took to the woods on a mission!
As we ventured out.......the sun wasn't shining, but the weather was hot, and I came to realise how uncomfortable my cowboy (cowgirl) boots actually are! I have enjoyed wearing my wedges this summer way too much obviously.
We were armed with our cameras, ready to capture that perfect deer shot.......bunkering down in the dark depths of the woods (ok, so it wasn't dark.....but imagine it was; just for story telling sake....) and attempted to keep quiet (with two little girls this is one challenging feat). We waited it out........for such a long time! Yes, yes, patience is a virtue and 'yes' we waited a grand total of 10 minutes before boredom kicked in and we abandoned this project in favour of a butterfly 'hunt' instead. Which we thought would be easier..........alas, we thought wrong.......!
All in all, it was pretty uneventful......we saw no butterflies and no deer. We did manage however to get hot and sweaty :)
It was a lovely walk though, despite the heat - and I did manage to get that one deer picture last week whilst randomly walking the dog! All is not lost......
