A Woodbridge Walk, Swans and A Cherry Cake........

On Friday we visited my Mums Aunt in Woodbridge, a beautiful small historic town just outside Ipswich........it has been many years since I have been to my Mums Aunts house, and as a child I remember picking strawberries there, in a place that seemed a million miles away from our over-looked, not so picturesque  back garden. I forgot just how beautifully secluded her house is, away from the hustle and bustle of living on an over-crowded estate where the the gardens are small and people fight on the streets at night!
In this garden, I could dance and cartwheel (yes, I am still able to cartwheel) without being deemed a 'weirdo' - I could sunbathe naked without the worry of my neighbours being scarred for life......

I guess you could call it the countryside.......almost!

My Aunt had her daughter and grandchildren to stay, we don't see them often as they live in Spain........so its marvelous to catch up when they are visiting........and the children all play together too.

A visit wouldn't be complete without tea and cake, and in my case, coffee! (I don't really drink tea anymore unless its of the fruit, peppermint or Darjeeling variety)

Later we decided to take a short walk along the river Deben......with the beautiful boats and swans, it was stunning. The sun was warm, but not too hot and there was a gentle, refreshing breeze. I could have stayed so much longer, if only to indulge myself in the relaxing surroundings.
I also love to visit places I read about. I recently finished reading a book by Barbara Erskine called River of Destiny. She nearly always sets her books in or around Suffolk and this particular one was set in Woodbridge and around the river Deben!

A tranquil afternoon.........I will definitely have to visit again soon :)

A bit of Swanage.....
