A smidgen of darkness amongst the beauty........

NATASHA NEWTON

I wanted to share my love of Natasha Newtons artwork and dedicate a small part of my blog to her fabulous creations.
As a fellow Suffolk-en (yes, I've created a word for it) I feel honoured that an artist such as Natasha lives only a matter of miles from me, I also feel I can relate to her personality some how through these images.
I first came across Natasha about 4 years ago maybe whilst searching through MySpace (I think it was MySpace anyway) and I was instantly won over by the delicate nature of her pen/brush.
For me these paintings sum up the right balance of femininity via masculinity, the subtle lines and curves of the   tree branches and leaves. The delicate shading and simplicity of the hills rolling upon each other. The beautiful birds fluttering overhead. On the other hand they have a heavy slam of grungy, Earth colours. The muddy tones seem to allow the art to breathe and the viewer can instantly create an opinion. I also love the little houses and the fact that they're always white :)

Personally I'd love to own one of her original drawings, I'd just spend hours looking at it.

Do you like these? How do they make you feel?

I also love the contrast in texture in the picture above.....

Natasha sells a selection of her work from her Etsy shops The Blackbird Sings and A Bird a Day.

Natasha also accepts commissions and you can find guidelines and prices on her website:
